I Can't Believe I Forgot This One!

An addition to this month's "Loganese Volume #2" post.

7. (March) - We ask Logan what the new baby is going to do.  He replies, "Poop," "Pee," or "Cry - waaa!"  You never know which answer you will get when you ask, but if you keep prompting him, he will eventually tell you all three.  It's hilarious!!

I'm THAT Person (and PROUD of it!)

Last night, Todd left a little bit earlier than usual for work because he was playing basketball before work.  About ten minutes after he left, my doorbell rang.  I answered it, and it was a man dressed in work clothes who said he was from the gas company.  He claimed to be there to work on something on the side of our house for about an hour, which I didn't mind, but he said that afterward he would have to come inside to re-light any pilot lights we had (furnace, water tank, and stove).  I said okay, and locked the door behind me.  Immediately my thoughts went to a recent email or Facebook post (I can't remember which) that warned about this exact situation.  Feeling slightly panicky, I called Todd and asked if he thought I should call the gas company to verify that they were supposed to be there.  He, of course, said yes, so I did.  I was on hold for quite a while, and in the meantime my very caring husband called not only his dad, but also his brother to come over and sit with Logan and I until they were finished working.  I was on hold with the gas company for about 15-20 minutes, but the woman finally told me that they had no record of anyone working in our area at that time.  I gave her the name on the side of their van, and she did confirm that they had subcontractors that did work for that company, but again had no record of anyone working in our area that night.  She told me that I had a right to ask for ID, which I had planned on doing before I let anyone into our house, and I could still refuse to allow them inside if I wasn't comfortable.  She was very understanding and explained that if, indeed, our gas was turned off, we would know right away and could call in the morning to have someone turn it back on.  I was worried about not having a working furnace throughout the night and hot water for showers, and it made me feel a little better knowing I had two men at home with me by this point.  We did end up letting them in, and Troy followed them around checking on what they were doing.  They did re-light our pilot lights, and he even checked outside after they left and said they had installed a new meter.  All in all, I'm glad the situation turned out the way it did.  I'm glad the work was legitimate.  But I'm still a little freaked out about what could have happened.  Thank goodness for my subconscious reminding me of that email or Facebook post and for having the common sense to check up on the situation.  I don't think I would have let them in had Troy and my father-in-law not been there.  I offer a big thanks to them and a word of warning to everyone else.  Better safe than sorry!

Brother or Sister?

Today was the big day - 21 week ultrasound!  I've been asking people for a week or so now to make their final predictions.  It was on Facebook, and I even had my students at school make a graph of what they thought.  I've been thinking girl all along because this pregnancy feels really different from my last one.  Todd has been saying boy because he wants another boy, but I think he secretly thought it was a girl even if that's not what he wanted.  I got a pretty good mix of responses on Facebook, but an overwhelmingly 16 out of 17 of my students at school today voted girl!  I don't know if they have heard me say that I thought it was a girl or if they just voted that way because that's how the first few people voted.  But, the final vote at school, including teachers, was 19 girl and 3 boy (and that was including Todd and Logan)!

The official results?

Big brother, Mommy, and Little Brother!

This would be my first son grabbing my boob

Giving Mama a hug!
(or really just trying to get down, but we can pretend)

We are very excited.  Todd is absolutely ecstatic, and it thrills me to see him so happy!  We will definitely save a lot of time and money having two the same, and since we are going to try for a third (in about three years) I still have hope of one girl.

(I forgot to take a picture of the graph my students made but I will take one in the morning and post that as well.)

Kalahari

The last Friday of my spring break, we decided to take Logan to Kalahari.  This isn't something we normally would have planned on taking him to, but Todd's mom was going there for a conference for work for two days, and she had free passes!  She begged us to stay the night, but I didn't really want to deal with the hassle of staying in a hotel with Logan, who doesn't sleep well when we're not at home.  Plus we were both getting over colds, and I thought our own beds would be better.  We planned to stay only about two hours because we thought Logan would be tired by then.  Well, as it turns out, we had a LOT more fun than any of us planned on having, and by the end of the night we were wishing we had brought our stuff to stay overnight in the hotel!  We swam for about three hours (at which point we were more tired than Logan), then changed our clothes, had dinner with Todd's mom, and played in the game room for about an hour.  I am a waterpark lover - I even lifeguarded at The Beach in Cincinnati for three summers during college, so I knew I would have a blast!  Todd, who I thought would be miserable, is actually already planning a group trip with our friends next year!  Of course, his plan includes the guys golfing nearby while the girls take the kids to the waterpark!  I did mention that we need to go back when I'm not pregnant (and can ride the rides) and with a group of only adults.  There is plenty to do there even without kids, and I definitely think we will be frequenting it at least once a year from now on.  On to the pictures...

Anxious to get started swimming...

...but we need a life jacket first!

All he wanted to do was push it around on the shore.  Who knew that would be so much fun?!

Loving every minute!

On the kitchen floor when we got home.  He was so tired he couldn't even stand up!

This was hands-down the BEST day we have had with Logan so far!  It was so rewarding to see him enjoying himself so much.  It makes me happy to know that I have been able to make him so happy!  I'm looking forward to many more days like this to come.

Loganese Volume #2

It is really hard for me to resist the urge to post one of these lists every time Logan says something funny, because usually I laugh so hard I can't wait to tell everyone about it.  My little man has acquired a fascination with anything pee and poop related, so I apologize, but many of these center around that inappropriate but funny topic.

1.  (March) - Logan hands me Todd's phone cover and can of chew.  He tells me "thank you."
2.  (March) - We are watching Friends.  It's the episode where everyone finds out Rachel is pregnant.  Joey thinks it's Phoebe first, so he gives her this whole speech about being a single mom and then proposes to her.  When they figure out it's Rachel that's pregnant, Joey gives her the same speech and proposes to her too.  Rachel says, "What?!"  Then Monica says, "What?!"  Then Phoebe says, "What?!"  Then I hear Logan say, "What?!"
3.  (March) - Same night, this time watching Grey's Anatomy reruns.  Derek says, "Hey."  Meredith says, "Hey."  Logan says, "Hi!"
4.  (March) - Another TV related quote.  I am picking up blocks with my back to the TV.  Logan points at the TV and says, "Kia."  I turn around and look at the TV, and sure enough it's a Kia commercial!
5.  (April) - Logan dumped about half of his container of 100 cookie cutters (which are awesome by the way, and you can get them at Bed Bath and Beyond for only $9.99) onto the kitchen floor.  I asked who made the mess, and he replied "Bubba," which is one of his nicknames and what he calls himself.  When I asked who was going to clean up the mess, of course he said, "MAMA!"
6.  (April) - I am using the bathroom, and Logan barges in as usual.  He seems to be searching for something in my underwear as I'm sitting there, so I ask him what he's looking for.  His answer?  "Poop."  I had to explain that mommies don't poop in their underwear, but in the potty instead.

Easter Weekend

I think it's time for me to stop being lazy, and just post already.  This post, in particular, is WAY overdue!

For Easter this year, Logan and I ventured south to Milford (outside of Cincinnati) to visit my parents.  Todd stayed home because he had to work on Friday.  We were gone from Friday to Monday, and it was a very enjoyable little vacation!  I was nervous about the drive because we don't do it very often, and it was my first trip alone with Logan.  We purchased a DVD player for the car when we drove down at Christmas this year, but Logan isn't really to the age where he pays attention to it for very long.  On top of that, he was sick with a pretty bad cold.  I left around the time when Logan normally naps, hoping that he would sleep for a good part of the trip.  Unfortunately the cough that accompanied his cold kept that from happening.  He only slept for a total of 10 minutes the entire three hour trip, woken up twice by coughing.  Needless to say, he was pretty cranky toward the end of the trip, but I managed to keep my cool and we both survived!  He took about an hour nap that afternoon at my parents' house, but I couldn't get him to fall asleep in his pack-n-play, so he took his first nap ever on a big boy bed!

Friday night we were invited to a birthday party for some Rossford friends' (that live outside Cincy) little boy.  Nate was turning three, and his party was at a really fun place called Run, Jump, and Play in Mason.  We started the party on the indoor playsets.  They were pretty amazing, and Logan had a great time.  The playsets are built and kept at Run, Jump, and Play, and people are able to purchase them as well.  I couldn't believe the prices - they started at $1500!

The slide was his favorite part!

First time on a trampoline

I think he likes it!

After the playground area, we were led into two separate rooms of inflatables.  Many of them were too big for Logan to play on independently.  They let the parents play with the kids, but with me being pregnant, I was a little unsure of how much I should be doing.  I let Logan do what he could do by himself for most of the time and helped him out just a little bit toward the end so I could get some better pictures and he could enjoy another slide.  He had a lot of fun and really liked interacting with the other kids.  We had to keep forcing him to take breaks so he could drink some water and get his nose wiped - he would get so excited and run around so much that he would start coughing like crazy!

(Of course) shooting some hoops!

He kept saying, "JUMP!"

We didn't actually go down this slide, but he was perfectly content just hanging out at the bottom.

Such a cutie!

Scoping out the shark tank inflatable

More jumping!

Sitting on the throne in the party room

This is where Nate eventually sat to open his presents, but I snuck Logan on while the other kids were eating cake.

On Saturday, we decided to check out the new outlet mall just north of Cincinnati.  My sister, Jenn, drove in from Columbus to shop with us so we could have a chance to see her and she could spend some time with the nephew she loves so much!  Unfortunately her hubby didn't make it - he was home waiting for their new mattress to arrive!  Shopping was great - I got a lot of stuff for Logan, including some things for the fall and a new pair of Nike tennis shoes that were only $12.99!  I was disappointed that the Gap did not have any maternity clothes because that's the primary reason I wanted to go there, but we made sure to hit up the regular mall on the way home, and I made out pretty well there!  I even got to indulge in some Cheesecake Factory cheesecake - yum!

Even though he's not looking at the camera, I love his face in these next two pictures!

Oops he blinked!

He LOVED playing with the eggs

Sunday was Easter, and we took Logan to church for the first time.  I was really nervous about how he would act, especially because my parents' church holds their holiday services in their Parish Life Center, which looks kind of like a gym.  I just knew my little hoopster would be yelling, "HOOP" (and he did)!  He did a lot better than I expected during the service, thanks to some goldfish crackers and only one little break to go for a walk.  We met some of my parents' friends who told us they were "scoring" all the babies as their families went up for communion (ha ha), and they told me that Logan got the highest score, even before they realized he was my mom's grandson!  Hearing those kinds of compliments never gets old!  After lunch and a nap we took Logan to a nearby playground, a tradition we tried to uphold every year as kids (as long as the weather cooperated).  Logan was excited to have more opportunities to enjoy the slides he loved so much on Friday.  I would walk him to the top, my mom would catch at the bottom, and my dad was in charge of pictures!  We had a blast!  We even took a walk around the pond at the end and got to see some ducks!

Vroom vroom!

Still driving

Swings!

I'm pretty sure he liked it!

Back to the slides

He kept getting stuck on this slide, so my mom had to either push him or pull him most of the way down!

So cute!

Grandma's helping again

Whoa - we almost lost him on this one!

He thought we wouldn't notice that he ate a whole egg full of M&M's, but the drool evidence gave him away!

Basket on the head

Playing with his new favorite toys - matchbox cars!

We came home on Monday morning, and I will say that the ride home was much better.  Logan was starting to feel better (though I was starting to feel the effects of his cold at this point), and he actually slept for about an hour and a half of the drive.  All in all, it was a fantastic trip, and it was so great to see my whole family all in one weekend!
