Greatest Invention EVER!!

A few of you already know this story...
I have a bridesmaid's dress from TurtleParade's wedding that I took to be shortened when I got my wedding dress altered. After almost 2 years of hanging in the closet, I discovered that the only part of the dress that is not black (about 98% of the dress IS black) had a HUGE BROWN STAIN! Agh I did not remember spilling! I had planned to take the dress to the dry cleaner and pray that they could get the stain out after such a long period of time - I plan on wearing the shortened version to another wedding later this fall. However, yesterday I had a brilliant idea. Why not try the ever-popular Tide To Go? It was worth a shot, right? Well, I'll be darned...it worked...on a two year old (unknown) stain! I was astounded, amazed, and excited. Problem solved, dress fixed, and I rest my case. Greatest invention ever! Thanks Tide!

Wedding Photos!

I'm pretty sure that anyone who might actually still look at my blog already knows this, but if you are interested our wedding pics are posted on Pictage. You have to register with an email address and password, then search for our event by our last name. If anyone decides to take a look, please help me choose favorites for our proof book - I have to narrow down from 1100 to 300! Yikes!!

Baby Fever!

I recently found out that TWO of my closest friends are expecting (along with EIGHT others that I know)! This is so exciting for both of them considering they were both having trouble getting pregnant. Then, BAM, the miracle of a baby happened for both of them. I am so excited! I have never had a close friend be pregnant before. It's so fun getting to hear about doctor's appointments and see pictures. I can't wait to see the babies when they are born! Now I've got the itch, too. Three more months and we can start trying too! Congrats Keather and Kel!

Dress Update

This weekend I ventured to Cincinnati to pick up my bridal gown and the bridesmaid dresses. Let me just say: THEY ARE ALL SO BEAUTIFUL! If I do say so myself, I have exquisite taste! As if I wasn't excited enough already, putting on my actual dress sealed the deal and gave me one more reason to continue counting the days until the wedding! I didn't want to take the dress off! I even, jokingly, asked the girl at the store if I could wear it home (she said no), so I put it back on as soon as I got back to my parents' house. I can't wait to be able to wear it for more than 10 minutes at a time. My sister also looked gorgeous in her bridesmaid gown, as I am sure all of my other bridesmaids will as well. I can't wait! I have pictures on my camera for those of you who want to see. Sorry, T, you will have to wait 124 more days to see it in person!

FINALLY!!

The long awaited newest blog post has arrived - it was definitely worth the wait!

Wonderful news for all - both bridesmaids and bridal gowns have arrived! Well, not really. They are still at the store in Cincy, but I will be venturing down there next weekend to pick them up! Words cannot express how excited I am! I can't wait to try on a dress that actually fits (the one I tried on when I bought my dress was literally 12 sizes too big)!!

Here is the link to view the bridesmaid dresses in case you are interested. They are black with a champagne sash - absolutely beautiful! Whoever picked them must have exquisite taste ;) Sorry no link to the bridal gown - we can't let T see it before the big day!

I Actually Have Yellow Underwear!

Your Lucky Underwear is Yellow

You're an extremely happy, laid back, fun soul. And your lucky yellow underwear can help you get even more out of life.
In life, you rather play than work. You're apt to quit any task that doesn't nourish your creativity and inner child.

Sometimes your drive for freedom hinders your quality of life. You find it impossible to do anything unpleasant.
If you want to have responsibilities and still have fun, put on your yellow underpants. They'll help you make a party out of the most mundane tasks.

Don't Believe Everything You Read in the Paper

The officer in this article just happens to be a good friend's husband. Some of you even met him a few weeks ago at my birthday party. I got the real story from his wife today, and it infuriates me that Kris himself was not interviewed for this article.

According to my friend K, this was the first time her husband had ever tagged a deer. Point #1 - he made a beginner's mistake. He also happened to be speaking with the owner of the property on which he was hunting, and the OWNER was the one who told him to use the "landowner" tag. Point # 2 - he got screwed over by someone he thought was helping him. He didn't know any better! If you ask me, the landowner was the one who REALLY should have known that an act like this would be punished. As far as I know there has been no disciplinary action for him. Kris did not "lie" in the sense that the article implies. As soon as he realized he had in fact done something wrong, he admitted it.

30 days suspension from the police department seems a little extreme for me. This is an event that has been blown way out of proportion, and I know it's causing a lot more stress on Kris and K than it should. Ugh! I am disgusted! Maybe I am biased because they are friends of mine. I don't know. Read the article and let me know what you think.

It's A Love-Hate Relationship

So, yesterday my fiancee T and I purchased the last 2 "Guitar Hero II" games in the city of Toledo. One was given to our good friend, Mrs. Turtle, and her husband, and the other was kept for ourselves. I was a bit skeptical of this game at first, not sure whether it was going to be worth the money we spent on it. But our friends insisted that it was a good time, so I decided to give it a whirl.

I will start with the "love" part of this relationship. This game is AWESOME - so much fun! I really didn't think I was going to be any good at it, considering I am in no way coordinated and have never been able to make my hands do two different things at the same time. I wasn't bad though. I was actually quite impressed with myself. I have yet to get booed off the stage, as our good pal Ry did last weekend.

But now for the "hate" part. I hate that T loves the game too. HE NEVER LETS ME PLAY! Yesterday he played for close to 2 hours before giving me a turn. Then he let me play 4 songs (about 20 minutes) and then took it away from me again! He continued to play until he beat the easy level...all in the first night of owning the game! Then today I made it a point to get all of my must-do chores out of the way so I could play again before bowling tonight. Apparently, the phrase "I want to play Guitar Hero" means "I want to watch you play" to T. He played again for about 2 more hours before even asking me if I wanted to play. By then I was so annoyed I didn't even want to anymore. I resorted to watching "The Wedding Planner" on TNT instead. The worst part...Keather left her guitar over here yesterday, so we could have played together, but apparently that was not an option either. Boo!

We were supposed to make an additional trip to Target today to purchase Dance Dance Revolution (which was what I really wanted) - that didn't happen either.

I guess if there is ever going to be hope for me playing this game, I will have to learn to use the Playstation while T is not home. Thanks friends, for introducing us to this phenomenon. I will let you know if I ever get to enjoy it!

HELP (again)

Mrs. Turtle (and any others with advice),
I need you to help me make a new layout for my blog site. I am bored with this one already, and I do not like the templates. What else can I do?
Sincerely,
Carolina Girl

A Must See

I just returned from seeing the new movie, Freedom Writers, with my teacher pal Kel. IT...IS...FANTASTIC! It is one of the most inspirational movies I have seen in a long time. (It's nice to know they are still making them.) Being a teacher, I had a pretty personal connection, though it made me glad I don't teach high school! However, something tells me that even non-teachers will enjoy it. I do not feel as though this movie was as well-advertised as it could have been, so if you haven't seen a preview or commercial, here's a brief synopsis:

Rookie teacher Erin Gruwell is in her first year of teaching at an inner city Long Beach, CA school. The kids are GHET-TO and in the midst of a racial war. Being a first year teacher, Erin is super-motivated but consistently told by her co-workers that there is no hope. She vows to make a difference, and does so at the cost of a LOT of her own money (all teachers can relate) and even her marriage. She gives the students each their own journal, in which they can write whatever they want. She only reads them when they ask, but the journals give her a lot of insight into her students' backgrounds. In the end, she is able to use these journals to really connect to her students, and carry out some pretty incredible lessons. You'll have to see the movie to know the rest. I highly recommend it. Let me know what you think!

PS - To top it all off, McDreamy plays her husband AND it's based on a true story. It couldn't get any better than this!
